Buffett Virgins having PHun at Tampa Buffett Concert

Image
I made a last minute decision to attend the Jimmy Buffett concert in Tampa which is part of his 2017 I Don’t Know Tour, and missed the opportunity to phlock in the parking lot where all the Tampa Bay Parrotheads, Sarasota Bay Parrotheads and many other Parrothead Clubs were tailgating.   I knew that Dorothy Bedlin, President of the Tampa Club had a great tailgate planned with music and a volcano to initiate the Buffett Virgins.  Tampa’s venue at the MidFlorida Credit Untion Amphitheatre is the largest tailgate venue I have been to and there are several parking lots available to tailgate in.      Although I knew I was missing all great musicians in Lot A such as the Trop Rock Junkies, the JP’s with Jimi Pappas and John Patti, Drop Dead Dangerous, Joel Thomas and Highway One Band, I saw the tailgate party from a different vantage point this time with a group of Buffett Virgins. In our group of ten, six were Buffett Virgins who had never attended a Jimmy Buffett concert but wer

Clara Oman at the Sun and Fun Tiki

We were fortunate to have Clara Oman play for us and 64 other Parrotheads and Sun and Fun friends at our Sun and Fun Tiki on May 13.   Clara is  a unique combination of singer/composer/pianist and entertainer and has a special talent of mashing up many songs into a wonderful medley upon request. I first heard Clara's magical voice while driving listening to Songwriter's Island Radio .  Songwriter's Island specializes in singer-song writers and I normally hear Trop-Rock musicians on it.  When all of a sudden, a voice that sounded like a Disney Princess came on the station, I had to stop to see who it was.  I spoke to Sam Densler who is the owner of Songwriter's Island to find out more information about this singer named Clara Oman.  Sam told me that Clara was appearing at his House Concert venue which was called "The Dock" and invited my husband  and I to come and hear her music in person.  I juggled my schedule so I could be there that

Our Sun and Fun Tiki

Recently, Tammy Camp of Trop Rockin' Magazine wrote an article about our new house concert venue called "The Sun and Fun Tiki".  Please check out the article with photos of our tiki being built on the Trop Rockin' Magazine Website . Here is a copy of Tammy's article: As one of the newest house concert venues to start up in the Southwest Florida region, the “Sun and Fun Tiki” is an all around fantastic experience. The setting is a true Florida get-a-way boasting lake front views, Tiki Hut performance stage, a large backyard, screened in pool, a little dock and future plans for a tropical backyard Tiki Bar. With a full schedule of concerts confirmed for 2017 and bookings for 2018 in progress, it’s quickly becoming a Trop Rock destination. The Beginning Geri and Mike Salitsky were dining at a Margaritaville Cafe (many years ago) where flashes of Jimmy Buffett concerts and tailgate parties flickered across the restaurant TV screens. Another Voyage to Paradise 2

I recently went on a cruise with the Southern Drawl Band and wrote an article for Trop Rockin' Magazine.  Here is the link to their website which contains a photo album, links to the musicians pages as well as the article which I have shared below.   http://www.troprockin.com/life/another-voyage-paradise/ My husband and I attended our first Trop Rock Cruise organized by the Southern Drawl Band.  This was their second cruise and appropriately called “Another Voyage to Paradise 2.” It is one of the many great trips that they are currently organizing. They are calling these vacation/music getaways a SDB Playcation! We attended with 200 Parrot Heads and Trop Rock fans aboard the Norwegian Getaway. Fans from as far as Germany and Alaska attended. Events started off with a two-day Kick-Off Party at the Ocean Manor Resort right on Fort Lauderdale Beach on April 21. All the musicians chosen to perform on the week-long cruise gave us a musical preview of what to expect during the

Girlfriends Circle #1 at RJ's Cafe

Image
Our Beach Gals Meetup as created so the ladies could find new friends in the area and to provide activities to do together.  Many of us have moved from other States and some snowbirds from other Countries and left our best friends behind.  A phone call is okay but sometimes it's nice to have a local BFF to call upon when you need a friend.  Our normal Meetups in the Beach Gals and Sun and Fun Meetups usually have quite a few people in attendance and it's really hard to get to know each other on a one-to-one basis so new friendships can happen. I've been doing a lot of research on online Friendship groups and reading books about the topic which inspired me to start having Girlfriends Circles.  I was going to have only 8 girls in attendance but when I saw the response, I decided to have larger attendance and then have the ladies split into smaller groups upon arrival so that more could participate. We expected 10 ladies but we actually only had 7 who attend
